Rajesh Sawant
Rajesh Sawant shares the same background as his brother Prafull Sawant. He says that he was brought up in a ‘very congenial atmosphere in his house, which was conducive to nurturing of creative art.’ He works as a fine art teacher in a college. In his spare time he paints and his paintings have gained popularity and fame over the years. He is a master at drawing portraits and is keen on drawing landscapes and composition drawings. Like Prafull he has benefited immensely working with Kamath.
His Holi in Gujarat is a masterpiece, which brings to life the festival of colours. For this painting he has used a ‘flowing’ style that is so uniquely his. This painting offered him the opportunity to utilize many shades of colours – bright, faint, shining and glittering. In Tagore’s painting he has surpassed himself by infusing life into the picture.
He has won numerous prizes in India and abroad and his paintings have been exhibited in countless exhibitions. |
